Abstract

Rukmini Bhaya Nair has been called 'the first significant post-modern poet in Indian English'. The standard reference volume Oxford Companion to Modern Poetry which covers the world century from 1910-2010 and includes all time greats like T.S. Eliot and Pablo Neruda says of her work that "it has been widely admired by other poets and critics for its postmodern approach to lyrical meaning and feminine identity."
