Abstract
Play is essential for a child’s well-being, growth, and healthy development. A child’s ‘Right to play’ is emphasised in Article 31 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC 1989), the world’s most widely ratified human rights treaty in history.i Play occupies a vital place in the curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment processes of the early years and contributes to children’s learning and development.
