The capability of the child.
Learning Curve (13).

Abstract
Language teaching and teachers in the
primary classes often ignore the fact that
the child in the class is an extremely
capable being. A child of four is a linguistic
adult in the sense that she is able to communicate,
conceptualise and reason in her own language. The
child of four can do many other things
as well including physical tasks, competently using
spatial relations and transformations; visualising,
estimating and having a sense of number and quantity.
She has acquired all this through a natural engagement
with the world around her.
